Early 1970s Celine 100% wool classic box pleat skirt. This is a high-waisted navy and white houndstooth design with navy calfskin leather and gold tone chain link gourmette either side of the waist band. Fully lined in a quality navy acetate and fastens with a concealed side zipper and hook-and-eye closure. Labelled a French size 36, this is smaller than today’s sizing and will fit an extra small UK 6 or US 0-2. Impeccable vintage condition, looks barely worn with no faults. Epitomising accessible French chic in the era when the founder, Céline Vipiana, was the creative force of the brand. A very similar skirt is shown here in a Celine catalogue campaign from the mid 1970s, paired with a classic horse bit shoulder bag and loafers.
